Airweave Mattress Topper Helps Athletes Sleep

This year at the Olympics, did athletes representing Japan appear more rested? Japanese company weava japan provided a special version of its Airweave mattress pad to help athletes get restorative sleep.

The Airweave pad is made from a cluster of resin fibers that help support and provide air to the athlete as he sleeps. In the summer, the mattress topper remains dry when a typical mattress might absorb sweat. In the winter, the buffer of air in the pad acts as an insulator and provides a buffer of heat – provided by your body, of course.

This is no “sleeping on air” experience. But we think weava japan may be onto something with a replacement of the old egg crate-style mattress pad. The Airweave comes in three hardnesses: Hard type (super hard/hard) for athletes with a larger build; Moderate type (hard/moderate) for athletes with a medium build; and Soft type (moderate/soft) for athletes with a smaller build.

While the company has sold the Airweave since 2007, a new solution is geared toward athletes and offers a number of advantages:

• High resilience (force which pushes back) makes a move or turnover easier and aids deep sleep.
• Body pressure dispersion prevents physical strain.
• More than 90 percent of the mattress core is air, which doesn’t get damp in the summer, and provides a warm layer of insulation in the winter.
• Mattress core and cover is washable with water.
