Between biking, running, yard work and other activities in the summer heat, lately the laundry hamper has been emitting a particular odor I really hope a good cycle in the washing machine will take care of. To help things out, we got our hands on a bottle of Febreze Laundry Odor Eliminator. This goes in the wash in addition to detergent, and works to lift odors out of the fabric.
The Febreze product helps with odors from cooking, pets, work, smoke, and in our case – perspiration. It is designed to capture malodors in the wash cycle, and then wash them away in the rinse cycle. Clothes came out of the washer without a hint of old sweat – and that’s saying a lot considering some of the loads that go through our washer.
In our house we usually divide laundry into three groups. Those are all our clothes; delicates, which is mostly cycling clothes and other workout gear; and towels. I used Febreze in with clothes and delicates. Even with delicates I felt secure in throwing a capful of the odor eliminator in the machine.
Febreze Laundry Odor Eliminator is a thin, dark blue liquid. It’s almost alarming to toss it in with clothes, I worried that the color might stain, but it rinses out very well. After going through a whole bottle, I never found any traces of the blue. Now I have to hunt down a new bottle to get me through the rest of the summer.
