Photokina: Polaroid Gets in on the Action Sports

JVC and Sony have joined GoPro and the other action cameras and now so has Polaroid with a new line of sports video cameras that was introduced at the recent Photokina show in Germany. The Polaroid XS sports camera line features three models that include waterproof technology, low-light capabilities and are up to just about any outdoor adventure.

The XS100 (above) offers easy-to-use single button record, along with a professional 5MP sensor, and can record HD video in 720p, 960p and 1080p video along with 3MP, 5MP and 16MP still images. It features an aerodynamic design with a shock-proof exterior and distortion-free ultra wide lens to provide 170-degrees of coverage.

The XS100 offers an adjustable frame rates like burst shooting mode, time lapse and fast and slow motion, allowing users to see their action in a new way; Auto rotation G-Sensor; and dual file recording with every HD video. It is waterproof to 10meters.

The XS20 (above) is designed for adventures on land or sea, and features a professional CMOS sensor capable of capturing 720p HD videos or 5MP still images, offers high capacity battery allowing users to shoot for up to three hours, and is waterproof for up to 20 meters. It also offers users eight built-in LED lights for shooting in all environments, plus motion detection sensors to initiate recording, which also allows the camera to also act as a securitycam.

The XS7 (above) features a professional CMOS sensor that is capable of capturing 720p HD video or 5MP still images, and offers a two-inch full-color touch screen display for immediate playback of videos and images, along with a waterproof case, making the video camera waterproof for up to 10 meters.

The Polaroid XS hi-definition sports camera line has a suggested retail price of $69.99, $99.99 and $199.99. Cameras will be available at Polaroid retailers in mid-October.
