Polar Releases Exercise Intelligence App

There’s activity monitors, and then there’s apps that track your activity. But then what happens with all that data? Polar created Polar Beat, a next generation exercise training app. While other devices will sync up to the app, Polar recommends the new Polar H7 heart rate sensor, which is the first device from the company to use low energy Bluetooth Smart technology.

The app helps users plan a training target by setting goals such as burning calories, beating a personal best time or setting a distance record. Users can train at the right intensity using Polar Beat. Users get help working out in a target heart rate zone, which is set with personal data and goals. Users can understand the effect of a workout. Polar Beat interprets workout data and puts it on visual display so users can view their training results. The app also has accurate calorie tracking, whether the user is exercising indoors or outdoors.

A $3.99 upgrade to the app gives users the ability to go a little deeper into the program. Users can target a more sophisticated goal such as boosting metabolism, working on aerobic or anaerobic fitness, or pushing maximum performance and sprint speed. Users can also get a deeper real time analysis of the main effects of a workout, such as fat burning versus fitness improving efforts.

The iOS app is available in Apple’s App Store for free. An in-app feature upgrade is $3.99, which provides some advanced tracking for users.
