Pump Up Jacket

Utah-based Klymit is full of air, not necessarily hot air but air none the less. The company introduced an inflatable sleeping pad for campers a couple of years ago, and now the company is looking to bring out an inflatable windbreaker. This jacket has a valve in the hand pocket, which can be used to pump up the jacket’s air chambers, which makes it go tight against the body to add insulation.

The company has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help pump up funding for its Ulaar Jacket. The air inside is reportedly filled with Argon, which is the same gas used in dual-pane windows, and can thus make the jackets warmer than regular air. Regular air can be used as well, so it sounds like the Argon, which would require air cartridges, would be for those extreme temperatures.

The jacket is also made of polyester with a bamboo/charcoal-impregnated liner and features articulated hood, waist cinch straps and double slider water resistant zippers. It is quite the uber coat for the uber cold.
