Rawlings Participates in Youth Football Safety and Helmet Replacement Program

Helmets are crucial protective equipment for football teams, yet they often get uses year after year and no longer protect the players as effectively. Helmet manufacturer Rawlings just joined the Youth Football Safety and Helmet Replacement partnership. This group helps promote safety on the field, replaces aged helmets, and serves to educate coaches, players and others in the sport.

The initiative will remove helmets over 10 years old and replace them with new helmets. The new helmets will be given at no cost to beneficiary leagues. Coaches and administrators will also receive educational information to help assist young players with proper equipment fit and to promote playing the game safer.

The program is supported by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Several parcipating companies and organizations include Rawlings; the National Football League, the NFL Players Association, USA Football, the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); the National Athletic Equipment Reconditioners Association (NAERA); the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA); the National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment (NOCSAE); the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA) and other football helmet manufacturers.
