Sears Pushes Fitness Goals with Site, Merchandise

Sears has a new hardware goal, that’s hard bodies. The department store has spent time beefing up its fitness department, and it also supports the initiative with FitStudio, a website that provides fitness advice, exercises and a social media element to connect individuals with the same fitness goals.

If you’re in the market for fitness equipment, head to Sears. The company opened its “Fitness Flagship” store-within-a-store in more than 35 of its retail locations. The department has 6,000 square feet dedicated to fitness equipment from brands such as NordicTrack, LifeFitness, Sole, Smooth, ProForm, AFG, Bladez, and Schwinn. Many of these brands have models to test out on the floor.

To keep you on your goal, Sears created FitStudio, a web site to support fitness routines and programs. The site has exercises, workouts, routines and programs. Sears also built in a community, so you can connect with friends and other people nearby – through a Zip code search. The site also has an e-trainer service, which offers online training from certified personal trainers. Subscribers can get a step-by-step plan including nutrition and meal plans, workout regimens and interactive tracking tools to keep up the momentum.

Membership starts at $9.99 per week for a six-month (26 week) plan. Through the end of the month Sears is offering a free one-week trial of FitStudio e-trainer when you purchase a piece of fitness equipment for over $500.
