Snow (Wrist) Guard

Wrist guards have long been recommended for use with roller blades, but these can be useful in any sport where you can fall at high speeds. The catch is making sure that the wrist guards don’t interfere with the natural motion or restrict mobility. Hence, wrist guards aren’t really useful in cycling there these could impact ability to steer and maintain balance.

Likewise in skiing the wrist guards could be a problem as it could make using the poles difficult, but in snowboarding where arm movement is really just needed for balance protection can be utilized. And as snowboarders often hit the slopes at high speeds, which can mean high speed crashes and wrist injury.

Designer Navik Lai offered a new form of wrist guard. The Morph Armour is meant to provide a protective barrier around the wrists while allowing the wearer to retain near-full mobility throughout the arms. The Morph Armour works by providing a pair of splints with multiple segments joined at what Lai describes as “living hinges.”

The wrist guards are molded to the contours of the arm to provide a snug fit, and affixed via an eight point lace system to ensure that it will stay on during those high speed runs.
