CES: GPS Bike Navigation From Schwinn

SchwinnCycleNavSchwinn is showing off its CycleNav smart bike navigation system at the 2014 International CES this week. The system is a device and app combination that gives you turn-by-turn directions while on a ride.

CycleNav Smart Bike Navigator is a free mobile app paired with a handlebar-mounted smart-bike navigation unit. It also links to your Smartphone (hence the app), via Bluetooth. The handlebar-mounted device is a GPS unit that offers voice and visual cues to keep you on your route. It alerts you to an upcoming turn with a right or left blinking arrow, as well as voice directions stating , “turn right,” or “turn left.”

You can set up your route using the app, and even set stops along the route if you have a few places to visit before reaching your destination. A tool-free mount makes it possible to move the device from one bike to another, including rental bikes.

Schwinn will make the app available in iTunes and Google Play on January 15. The Schwinn CycleNav will be available in the spring for $59.99 at Walmart in the bicycling section.
