CES: Get On and E-Go

E-Go-CruiserAt CES this week some may have been possessed to skate (as the 1980s punk rock anthem once proclaimed), and took a ride on the E-Go Cruiser, the world’s lightest electric longboard at just 13.9 pounds. It is powered by one of the most powerful yet high capacity batteries, which allows users to travel 18 miles on a single charge.

The company claims the E-Go Cruiser is safe for beginners or experienced boarders, and provides an attractive alternative to urban transportation. Video after the jump

Electrify Your Deck

Riding a skateboard can be fun, unless you’re riding it to commute somewhere, in which case one foot will probably feel might tired by the time you get to your destination. We’ve seen a lot of efforts to bring some power to the decks, but most require purchasing a brand new board.

Florida-based RedRock Boardshop is looking at this from a different angle and is looking to produce a powered LaGrange L1 truck, which basically can transform any board into a motorized and electric skateboard. Users can replace one of their existing trucks with the L1 or even build a deck up from scratch. The truck has a built-in 3,200 (4.3horsepower) brushless motor along with a speed controller, both of which are powered by a 10 amp-hour rechargeable battery. Video after the jump

Zboard Gets Electric Boost

There is an old saying that what goes up must come down, but for those who skateboard sometimes what goes down must go up. That’s the case if you ride down a hill and need to get back to the top. If walking isn’t an option, and you can’t get the leg powered deck up the hill there is always the Zboard Electric, a skateboard that adds an electric motor.

This boost can transport the rider at a top-speed of 15-MPH, and control of the accelerator is managed from the front pad while the brake is at the rear. Riders should have a fine level of control, but obviously anyone looking to ride a wooden board down a hill probably knows a thing or two about control. Continue reading Zboard Gets Electric Boost
