Nike’s Black Gold

Nike-GoldFitness trackers aren’t the sort of thing that look all that good except when you’re wearing workout gear. Nike is looking to change that up a bit with a special version of it Nike+ Fuelband, which came out earlier this month.

For those who want style as well as functionality take a gander at the Rose Gold Nike+ FuelBand SE. As Nike puts it:

“Available in limited quantities worldwide, the striking Rose Gold colorway takes cues from high end timeware, with a clasp, bezel and screws manufactured from 316 series stainless steel. These beautifully crafted metal components are then hand polished to a mirror finish and given a beautiful and extremely durable PVD coating.”

Apple FuelBands Up

This week Nike announced that the Nike+ FuelBand is now available at Apple Stores nationwide, as well as in Canada and the U.K. Two new colors, including Black Ice and Black Steel, have been added as well. The Nike+ FuelBand was launched earlier this year and allows users the ability to track various fitness and activity metrics throughout the day including steps taken and calories burned. Activity is tracked and the NikeFuel score assigned based on efforts, while users can even share and compare progress with friends.

A Nike+ FuelBand mobile app is available for the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S and 4, as well as for the iPod Touch, so it is fitting that the device is now available at Apple retailers for $149.95.

But Nike has another idea – the company has introduced the FuelBand, a wristband device that is designed to measure daily movements of the wearer, tracking steps taken and calories burned. But the device also features the NikeFuel, a fitness metric that utilizes the rate of oxygen consumption and motion.

The device is meant to be something that most people wouldn’t even notice most of the time – much like a Livestrong wrist band or similar decorative wear. But this one actually tracks what you do, and can provide data to the wearer in the way of LED lights that go from red to yellow to green based on your activity goals. Red doesn’t mean stop however, but is there to tell the wearer to step it up while green indicates an active day. And not all the movement can be tracked, notably for use on a bike – or even mowing the lawn – where the hands aren’t in motion, but it still could be a good device to track those “background activities.” Continue reading Nike Fuels Up
