Pack Load

Last Pelican released the U100 Urban Elite Laptop Backpack that had room for seemingly everything but the kitchen sink. This year the company’s Progear S130 Sport Elite Laptop/Camera Divider Pack could almost make carrying that sink possible.

While that would be a stretch this new watertight, crushproof case offers plenty of room for all the essential gear that you might want to take on an adventure. It features top-loading access to gear but can still be jammed under a seat on an airplane. More importantly it features a pressure equalization valve to prevent vacuum lock, and is watertight to one meter for up to 30 minutes. There is a rigid front plate for impact protection and a padded divider to ensure that cameras, tablets and other devices have just the right place so nothing is left behind.

Sport Wallet – Not Small But Durable

Pelican has made video game and electronics accessories for years and recently the company introduced its PorGear line that has included backpacks and other travel related cases. Now the company has introduced its Pelican Smart Wallet, a mini case that can hold ID, cards and cash. It isn’t the smallest wallet on the market, but it could be on of the most durable.

It is crushproof and water resistant. The dual mesh pocket interior can hold valuables and even your keys while ensuring that they can survive in nature.

Packing It In

If you need to bring everything with you, and we mean just about everything, then the Pelican U100 Urban Elite Laptop Backpack might be the way to go. This top-end pack includes a solid poly case that can be submerged for up to 30 minutes.

Obviously this one is ideal for the trail, but could work for urban commuters who want a bit of extra production or travelers who want to carry a lot of stuff. It will fit up to a 17-inch laptop, and offer an additional 16 liters of capacity for other gear. The airtight case even includes a pressure-release valve so it can be opened on a plane. Stand Up Paddle Board

It is that time of year when the new water sport crafts are taking to the water, and a new trend seems to be stand up paddle boards. This includes the new Flow 106X SUP line from Pelican, which offers anti-slip, padded deck pad for secure footing, bottom grooves for solid tracking, four carrying handles for when it isn’t in the water, and even elastic bungree cords to allow storage “on deck.”

This craft obviously is designed for flatwater, light surf and slow moving rivers. We wouldn’t advise taking it on serious white water, but the the Flow can go with the flow and be used as a sit-on-top kayak as well – with optional conversation kit.
