With a name like Misfit you’d think investors would stay away, but Misfit Wearables, the maker of the Shine activity monitor, announced that it has raised a $15.2 million Series B financing led by Horizon Ventures, based in Hong Kong. This will help allow the company to remain focused on making its wearable technology products, and this comes on the heels of a record-breaking crowd-funding campaign on Indiegogo in January 2013.

It is also powered by a coin cell battery for up to six months, allowing users to forego cables for syncing or charging
The company announced this week the Shine App for Android. Available for devices running Android 4.3 and above with Bluetooth 4.0, the app users to sync their Shine, set their personal activity goals, see visual summaries of how they’re doing each day and week-to-week, among other features.
