High School Trekkin’

TrekTrek has expanded its partnership to support the nation’s biggest and most developed high school mountain bike program. Trek Bicycle and the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) announced a new partnership this month, and NICA student-athletes currently competing in California, Colorado, Texas, Utah, New York, Tennessee, Arizona, and Minnesota will enjoy the same benefits as other racers supported by Trek’s retailer-sponsored athlete program.

In additional to the financial support for the program Trek has also made available mountain bikes at prices that are more attainable on a high school budget. Ride on!

Holiday Gift Idea: The Great Trek Story

Trek Bicycle President John Burke has offered the ultimate tribute to his father and company founder Richard Burke, in the new book The Last Great Thing. This tells the story of how Richard founded the company in a red barn in Waterloo, Wisconsin and through the years has become one of the most respected brands in the bicycle world.

“I wrote the book for my children but the further along I got, the more I thought that what my father left behind could benefit more people than just the family he loved,” said John Burke. “I hope that readers will find his message as inspirational as I still do.” Continue reading Holiday Gift Idea: The Great Trek Story

Trekkin’ Up Mount Kilimanjaro

While the snows aren’t quite as prevalent as they once were on Mount Kilimanjaro, we think Ernest Hemingway might be excited to hear that Trek Bicycles’s Trek Travel team is looking to bring 20 cyclists on an epic fundraiser next February and March that will include the first-ever bike ride permitted on the African continent’s tallest peak.

The ride will be open to only 20 cyclists and is being organized as a fundraiser for drilling projects to bring clean water to more than 150,000 Tanzanians. WorldServe will also host one of the largest-ever environmental clean up projects on Mount Kilimanjaro. Continue reading Trekkin’ Up Mount Kilimanjaro

Trek CEO to Offer Keynote at Interbike

We know where we’ll be on the morning of September 19. We’ll be in Las Vegas at the Interbike Trade Show, and more specifically we’ll be at the Industry Breakfast, presented by Bikes Belong and NBDA. For this year’s inaugural industry breakfast John Burke, CEO of Trek Bicycle Corporation will be on hand to deliver the keynote address.

Burke’s keynote presentation is expected to address a clear plan to get the U.S. bicycle business from $6B to $10B a year by 2020, and what the industry needs to do to make it happen. He plans to describe the crucial role that the industry—retailers and suppliers–must play to create an effective movement that links bike businesses and consumers to shape a cycling-friendly future. This call-to-action presents the pathway to doubling the size of the U.S. bike industry and dramatically increasing IBD sales. Continue reading Trek CEO to Offer Keynote at Interbike

Trek Introduces New OCLV Carbon Fiber Madones

This week Trek Bicycle launched its new generation of its eight-time Tour de France-winning road bikes, and these include the sure-to-be head turning 7 Series Madone that promises to save riders an enormous 25 watts over the previous generation at 40kph. At 750 grams, the 7 Series Madone frame is the lightest available to consumers, while it also marks the debut of Trek’s U5 Vapor Coat paint scheme, a sub five-gram aesthetic option that uses no decals and minimal paint. Trek’s engineers were also able to remove nearly 200 grams from the frame and fork, without sacrificing any of the balanced ride for which the Madone is famous. With the Madone’s ride-tuned seat mast and reshaped, KVF seat stays, vertical compliance on the new 7 Series is 25% greater than the nearest competitor, with zero loss of lateral stiffness.
