CES 2012: Digital Health and Sport and Fitness TechZones Returns to Las Vegas

Fitness is not a fad, at least not with the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). This week it was announced that the Consumer Electronics Association’s International CES will feature dedicated TechZones on the exhibit floor in the areas of technology innovations in healthcare, fitness and other lifestyle-centric areas.

This will include the return of the Digital Health and Sport and Fitness TechZones, which will be produced by Living in Digital Times when the show runs Jan. 10-13 in Las Vegas.

“Wireless technologies are driving innovative advancements within the health and fitness markets and are helping make crucial information easier to access and share,” said Karen Chupka, CEA’s senior vice president, events and conferences. “The Sport and Fitness and Digital Health TechZones will enable attendees at the 2012 CES to experience the latest innovations in the growing digital health and fitness marketplace.”

Highlighting the Digital Health and Sports and Fitness conferences will be speakers such as Martin Cooper, inventor of the first portable cell phone; Emilio Pardo, executive vice president and chief brand officer of AARP; Reed Tuckson, chief of medical affairs and executive vice president of the United Health Group; and Gregory T. Lucier, chairman and CEO, Life Technologies. Exhibits by Alcatel-Lucent, Ant+, Continua Health Alliance, Scientific American, Omek Interactive, Recon Instruments, Ideal Life, DeLorme, BodyMedia Fit, Polk Audio, Scosche, United Health Group, are just a few of the health and fitness technology companies that will be on the showfloor.

“We can’t reveal all our secrets quite yet, but attendees will see top fitness and sports celebrities bringing the exhibit area to life at the 2012 CES, and get to interact with everything from medical avatars to experiencing helicopter snowboarding,” said Robin Raskin, founder of Living in Digital Times. “Technology now plays its part in everything from getting you a better night’s sleep to having a doctor’s appointment without leaving home to skiing the moguls.”

While it is still months away, you can count on KineticShift to report from the Consumer Electronics Show in January.
