Adidas ClimaCool Fabric Plays in the Olympics

We’ve been hearing about ClimaCool technology a lot, and probably own a few garments with the fabric. Since it plays a big role in Olympic uniforms, adidas provided some information on how its constructed, tested, and the benefits of the wicking fabric.

Sweat is actually an athlete’s ally. It works to cool the body. Yet as adidas sees it, sweat that drips is wasted. ClimaCool technology combines fabrics and fibers designed to disperse and wick away moisture to help aid the cooling process.

Garments made with ClimaCool have panels that wick, hold and transfer sweat and moisture differently. Some garments, including jackets made for Olympic archers and rowers, are fully waterproof yet still provide that breathable wicking of moisture away from the skin. Presentation suits that athletes are wearing on the podium this week in London are also waterproof, just in case the weather there is typically wet.

Team GB, Australia, Germany, France, Cuba, Belgium, Ethiopia, Trinidad and Tobago, Hungary, Greece and the Bahamas are using ClimaCool garmets from adidas. Each of those countries are using ClimaCool garments for sports including athletics, badminton, beach volleyball, handball, taekwondo, basketball, cycling, football, canoe and kayak, hockey, table tennis, tennis and volleyball.
