Strava and GU Challenge Runners This Spring

Get your running gear ready. Srava has a new running app, and has partnered with GU Energy Labs to create a challenge for spring. Between March 9 and April 9 there is but one goal. Run. The GU 100,000 Mile Challenge encourages participants to run as many miles as they can in 31 days.

While it sounds like Strava and GU expect individuals to reach 100,000 miles, that’s the cumulative goal. This is where running becomes a team sport. Runners are encouraged to cover as many miles as they can in those 31 days with milestones of 100, 150 and 200 miles. Each milestone reached will earn runners prize packages from GU including Peanut Butter GU Energy Gels, Rocktane Ultra Endurance Energy Gels and Drinks and more.

While there is a subscription version of Strava, the challenge is free to join. Install the app on your iPhone, Android or Garmin device and log those miles, after you sign up of course.

Strava has set some goals for spring. The company just partnered with Specialized for the Classic Climbing Challenge, which takes part roughly the same time period for cyclists. Both the Specialized and GU challenges are high profile, but the running (and cycling) app and online component lets you start and join challenges with friends and strangers to track and compare progress, as well as get encouragement to put on those miles.
