Under Armour Arms the USA Olympic Bobsled Team

USA-Olympics

Riding on a track of ice takes skill but it also takes nerves of steel. While the USA Bobsled team won’t be suited up like Ironman they’ll have another kind of armor. Under Armour has signed on to provide the bodysuits that will help reduce drag for the racers. This includes specialty clothing for the bobsled teams and the skeleton – which is probably the only sport that seems even more crazy that the bobsled!

Swing Into Spring

TOMMY-HILFIGER-GOLF-SPRING-Thanksgiving is just around the corner, but Tommy Hilfiger Golf looks to embrace the colors of spring with its 2014 collection, which is the preppy heritage and energetic spirit at the heart of the Tommy Hilfiger brand.

This includes three new deliveries, the first of which draws inspiration from iconic coastal golf destinations like Monterey Bay, California. Pieces include modern golf classics such as polos and sweaters rendered in a palette of tonal blues and white highlighted by light blue and turquoise accents. This includes classic patterns with nautical stripes, argyle and traditional plaids.

The second the nautical influences of San Francisco, California with tailored pieces featured in a vibrant palette of red, white and royal blue. Touches of modern black, inspired by the city’s distinct architecture, ground the delivery and emphasize the sporty design.

The third is inspired by the country club lifestyle and East Hampton’s renowned prep traditions, with a crisp, sophisticated color palette of kelly green, navy and white modernizes classic silhouettes.

The entire collection features 100 percent polyester fabric that combines style and comfort with moisture wicking capabilities that keep garments dry and provide anti-odor properties essential in a technical garment.

adidas Clima Changes Up

adidas-Climawarm+-2013Whether or not there is climate change, there is no doubt there is a change of seasons happening and cooler weather means more layers. Adidas has you covered, or rather can help you cover up. The Climawarm+ line for fall and winter allows athletes to focus on performing at their best thanks to the use of advanced hollow fiber technology inspired by polar bear’s fur, as well as the use of C shaped fibers to manage sweat.

This provides athletes with increased warmth without increasing weight, as the use of hollow yarns and THERMOLITE creates thicker fabric and more dead air space, which minimizes heat lost from the body while creating excellent moisture management. Collection Highlights after the jump

Uniform Look

OlympicsThe Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games are just a few months away, and last week the U.S. Freeskiing Team – which will make its Olympic debut – unveiled its uniforms for the big show at an event in New York City.

These custom uniforms were developed by The North Face, and include laser-cut stars on the jacket cuffs and unlike the debacle with the summer uniforms (which we remember were made in China), these will be produced at a Bay Area factory! Continue reading Uniform Look

Fab FLAB

FLABRiding a bike is meant to get you – and even keep you – in shape. But while riders do come in all shapes and sizes, clothing does not. Often time most cycling attire is designed for those ready to wear yellow in the Tour de France, so larger riders are left with fewer options.

Seeing this need for clothing for the larger set is Fat Lad at the Black – or FLAB – a new clothing line launched by three Yorkshire cyclists. Designed in the U.K. it is made in Italy and is aimed at Mamils (Middle aged men in Lycra). So enjoy the extra beer after the ride, or go back for another burrito. These clothes will have you covered – just don’t over do it too much.

Fall to Spring

AntiguaSpring isn’t exactly around the corner, as we still have a lot of fall and then winter, but Antigua has us thinking ahead. The company has unveiled its Spring ’14 Performance 72 Golf Collection, which promises vivid color, sophisticated styling and luxurious fabrics.

It builds on the company’s proprietary Desert Dry and Desert Dry Xtra-Lite moisture management technology to help wick away moisture, and the line is replete with 17 shirt models, 12 outerwear tops, two shorts and seven hats. Collection Highlights

Eurobike: Are Those Shorts Inside Out?

X-BionicNo those shots in the photo aren’t inside out. These were spotted at last month’s Eurobike, and are a new trend from X-Bionic – which offered clothing demos last week during the Demo Day. The Swiss company noted that its brand hasn’t been available in the United States, which is why these may look so odd to us. The chamois is sewn into the shorts or bibs without the usual layer of material on the outside. This reportedly allows it rest directly on the saddle and reduces friction.

X-Bionic also introduced a line of jerseys that also appear inside out and feature technology called “The Trick,” which is there to make riders sweat more.

These both look odd to us, but then again to those who don’t ride cycling attire isn’t exactly considered normal clothing either!

Rainbow to a T

Rainbow-TAprès Vèlo has offered up some cycling inspired t-shirts for the Tour de France and with the UCI Road World Championship heading to Florence, Italy later this month the company has hit the road (so to speak) with its Worlds Rainbow T-Shirt.

It offers a semi-fitted crew neck, with printed graphics on the front and rear, and of course includes the rainbow stripe on the sleeve to honor the World Road Cycling Champion – and even includes a small rear patch pocket. And unlike the actual “rainbow jersey” you don’t have to head to Florence to get one.
