Lucky 13

13Dutch cycling brand Allez Cycling knows that pro cyclists who ride with the number “13” often place it upside down. With this in mind, the company now offers a cycling-themed t-shirt for men and women that reflects the cycling tradition that race number 13 is bad luck. The number on this 100 percent organic cotton shirt is also upside down – making this shirt sure to be a conversation starter.

Rainbow to a T

Rainbow-TAprès Vèlo has offered up some cycling inspired t-shirts for the Tour de France and with the UCI Road World Championship heading to Florence, Italy later this month the company has hit the road (so to speak) with its Worlds Rainbow T-Shirt.

It offers a semi-fitted crew neck, with printed graphics on the front and rear, and of course includes the rainbow stripe on the sleeve to honor the World Road Cycling Champion – and even includes a small rear patch pocket. And unlike the actual “rainbow jersey” you don’t have to head to Florence to get one.

Burton Produces Line from Recycled Dew Bottles

Burton Snowboards and Mountain Dew formed a partnership, the Green Mountain Project, late last year that will show more green than the soda’s bottles. As part of the partnership Burton will use recycled Mountain Dew bottles to manufacture a number of its products. The goal is to create sustainable fabrics out of recycled plastic bottles.

We’ll see products roll out throughout the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Among the first pieces to come out will be a hand-crafted line of t-shirts made from 50 percent recycled plastic bottles and 50 percent organic cotton. The first t-shirts from Burton’s Green Mountain Project will be a line of limited edition Burton x Mountain Dew tees. Three styles include Apparatus, Flake and Chairway to Heaven. Each t-shirt retails for $27 and is available exclusively at Burton US Flagship stores.

View Your Workout With Sweat Activated Technology

A soaked shirt at the end of a workout is a good sign that you put in the miles, went the distance, played really hard or just otherwise really sweated the small and big stuff. With the ViewSPORT line of t-shirts users not only see a soaked shirt, but also can get motivated by working just hard enough to have the shirt (almost magically) provide an inspiration message.

The technology behind the ViewSPORT shirts is the brainchild of chemist Ben Wood and Joe Yacano, who created a special process for their Sweat Activated Technology. The apparel that offers a variety of slogans, such as one that says, “I Am” and after a bit of time pumping iron or running it reveals, “the Competition.” Think of this as a personal way to manage your workout routine by merely looking in the mirror, and the result is what the makers call a visible measure of a wearer’s “sweat equity.” Continue reading View Your Workout With Sweat Activated Technology
