DIMOVEIf that 1970s TV show Goodtimes were still on the air more people would get the headline reference, but regardless the DIMOVE WAVEpro is still something different and eye catching. It is a balance board device that offers a challenge for users just trying to stand on it. The creators say it can be used in 70 different ways, but seeing it we have to wonder if that includes draping clothes and collecting dust.

While we’re not calling this out as a (Mis)Shift we’d need to hear more about what this one has to offer before fully getting on board, or even on it! Video after the jump

One of the best ways to avoid injury, sports related or not, is to have strong core muscles; and my wife reminds of this when I am doing an activity that might injury my back. “Hold your stomach muscles,” is the statement that she often repeats to me and she is right. Over the past year, strengthening those core muscles has become part of my workout routine and it has really helped. I have had less cycling related back injuries and I find that my back feels less ‘tweaked’ after a good day in the saddle.

There are many was to strengthen your core, from basic home exercises to specific Core Conditioning classes offered by some gyms. Along with these exercises or classes another device can be used will help you strengthen you core, improve your balance and is fun –  a balance board. Namco Bandai Works Out with ExerBeat

A new rhythm-based fitness game promises more than 150 activities. That game is ExerBeat for the Nintendo Wii, which will be released by Namco Bandai in the spring. ExerBeat uses the Wii Remote to move you through over 150 simple yet challenging exercises. Expect varied workouts such as using the Wii’s balance board, boxing, karate, dancing hiphip and other styles and even fun activities such as the pizza toss. Of course you should toss the pizza, maybe not necessarily want to eat a pizza.

Wii do Yoga

If you’d rather do your salamba sarvangasana, parsvakonasana and sun salute poses at home, we understand. There’s plenty of yoga DVDs on the market. But why not go one step farther with Yoga for the Wii? The interactive version features four levels with a number of yoga rooms and Asian-inspired settings. Model Anja Rubik shares her yoga expertise with tips and videos as she advises you through your progress.

Yoga for the Wii adds the Wii balance board controller as an option, so you can get feedback on how you’re doing on some of your poses. The console version advances at home Yoga by adding interactivity, letting you take your time on your poses and telling the Wii when you’re ready for the next one, and getting coaching and feedback based on your progress.
