Cannondale Looks to go OverMountain Again

CannondaleYou can’t ride through the mountain – unless there is a tunnel – so most of the time that means going over it. The Cannondale Trigger and Jekyll “OverMountain” trail/endro bike is ready for the ride. It features 27.5 inch wheels, superMax Lefty forks and a new Fox Dyad rear shock.

The Trigger (above) is this year’s new trail/all-mount ride, which features 140/85 millimeters of adjustable travel and comes in five models — three of which are equipped with a 140-millimeter SuperMax Lefty. The Trigger will also be available in a 29-inch version. Continue reading Cannondale Looks to go OverMountain Again

Cannondale Looks to Priority Designs

Isn’t every new design project somewhat of a priority? That likely depends, but for Cannondale its game changing CERV (Continuously Ergonomic Race Vehicle) certainly seems like it could get somewhere in a hurry. It is actually a concept bike from Priority Designs that could take cycling in a new direction.

The key to this radical shift is the fact that the bike features a “dynamically adjustable headset” that can move both vertically and horizontally while riding. During a hill climb the CERV headset could move up and back, to transfer the rider into a more upright position for optimal leverage, while in a descent the headset could move down and forward to provide less drag. Guru Goes Cannondale

Canadian custom bike maker Guru Bikes, which is known for its innovative DFU (Dynamic Fit Unit) for creating the perfect fit for riders looking to purchase a custom titanium or carbon fiber bike, could soon be part of the Cannondale family.

Does this mean that Cannondale will offer custom bicycles or just utilize the DFU system at some dealers? We’ll have to watch this one.

Cannondale Offers New Brain Buckets

This year at its PressCamp Cannondale turned heads with its entry into the head protection market. The company has introduced its first line of helmets, which are big on features but light on weight.

There were four new models that will be offered and these feature Internal nylon chassis to keep the EPS foam together during impact, while offering larger vents for better cooling. The helmets include SI Alloy Reinforcement Bridges that are aluminum plates that span several vents under the shell in several locations to provide further exoskeleton reinforcement. The Dual Density EPS foam, with firmer sections on the outer parts of primary impact areas of the front and occipital lobes (rear sides) that use a cone-shaped texture facing into the softer main EPS.

And since cycling isn’t just for men (or at least men with short hair), the helmets offer ponytail friendly rear micro adjust occipital lobe retention mechanism with a soft, water- and odor-proof padding that’s made from the same material as Crocs; and a polycarbonate outer shell that’s fused with the EPS body to create a one-piece design. Saving (Race) Face

The Canadian manufacturer, Race Face Performance Products, emerged from receivership less than two months after the future of the iconic brand was thrown into uncertainty. It was announced on March 12, 2011, that after 18 years of business, Race Face would be entering receivership with many accusations circling of mismanagement by the then CEO, Craig Pollack.

The Race Face website remained unchanged, but their products started cropping up all over the internet retailers in the clearance and ‘specials’ pages. It seemed from the outside that it was the end for Race Face or worse – it would be sold to a company who then produce all of the products overseas… see Control Tech, American Classic, Cannondale, Schwinn, GT, etc. Continue reading Saving (Race) Face

On Your Bike

That’s the name of  a bike store chain in the U.K. But now Cannondale has released OnBikemade using the case closed technology used in the ON Concept bike shown at Eurobike 2007. What’s ON? It uses the System Integrated Chain Case Technology where the chain case is a single sided, fully enclosed structural part of the frame. Benefits are many. Fewer moving parts means fewer parts to go wrong. The enclosed chain structure protects the parts that move from collecting dirt and grime, which can cause failure. Fewer parts and enclosed parts means fewer parts to steal if you lock your bike up on the street.
