Recyclable Hydration Pack

CenoteA hydration pack can come in quite handy, but what if you really only need one for occasional use? We also know what happens when you put sports drinks in a traditional reservoir – it never really gets clean again.

The Cenote hydration system offers a solution to both problems, as it is a recyclable bladder and it won’t set you back a C-note either. AT just $14.99 for the three liter system, and a dollar less for the two liter version, it can be used a few times and then recycled.

Too Cool

O2-CoolWhile out on a hike in the hot sun there are times when you need to cool off and the O2 Cool Mist ‘N Sip packs will do more than just provide a refreshing drink. Tactical Water Pack

H2o-To-GoWhile some running and cycling races are now barring the use of hydration packs we don’t think that ban will last. Plus there are so many reasons to wear your water rather than carrying it. Now Tacprogear has introduced its line of H2O To Go packs, a user-friendly hydration system that can be added to virtually any pack or used a stand alone hydration system.

It features an anti-snag moisture-wick back padding with straps and a removable Microban bladder; while the rugged construction includes a MOLLE spine making it compatible with military gear carry systems. It is availbe in black, Coyote Tan, OD green and multicam.

Shimano Packs It In

We noted back in February that Shimano had entered the eyewear and cycling bag market, and now the company has packed it in with a new hydration system. The new Unzen Hydration pack features the company’s ACCU3D technology, which reportedly allows the bag to wrap around the wearer while moving with him/her.

The Rider Fit X-Harness also provides for a snug fit for better stability on the bike. The Unzen will be available in 6, 10 and 15-liter capacities with a 2 liter Hydrapak reservoir for the 6L bag, and either 2L or 3L for the larger bags. So this means space for water and other stuff for those on the go.

Sci’Con Pack Brings Water and Power

Consider the Sci’Con back to be your personal department of power and water while you’re on a ride. We’ve seen bags that haul water in a hydration pack and those that have a solar charger. Well, the Italian-made HydraCharge offers both.

It features a solar panel for recharging mobile devices and can juice them up while you ride. It can take about four hours to get that iPhone or MP3 powered up, and while you’re doing the riding you can enjoy your own sort of juice to stay hydrated. The HydraCharge holds 1.5liters as well.

Tapping Into Something

Hydration packs are fantastic for carrying along water or other beverages for a long bike ride, hike or run. These are easy enough to fill up from a faucet but less so on the go. Now the Source Universal Tap Adapter makes it easier to refill the reservoir through the drink tube rather than in the opening in the back.  The UTA valve works with different kinds of taps and even water bottles, the latter needing a bit of gravity of course. From the wink the pressure is all you’ll need.

This allows a new way to fill up, but also gives new meaning to backwash. Continue reading Tapping Into Something

SIA: O-range ‘Welded’ Bags Charge Us Up!

When it comes time to look for a backpack, messenger bag or a simple sleeve for you iPad (or other tablet), the choices that are out on the market can be mind boggling. The options seem endless, but there is hope around the corner. While walking the show floor at SIA, we noticed a booth of bags with a look that was different from any others that we had seen before – simple, elegant and functional. Just about every pocket, closure and strap had a purpose. Once we learned that the bags were Italian designed and manufactured, it made even more sense. The company, O-range, has a product line worth looking at when the time comes to purchase that next bag or sleeve. Continue reading SIA: O-range ‘Welded’ Bags Charge Us Up!
