Get Your Skate and Leather On

LeathermanLeather isn’t something you typically need for surfing and not really for skating, but that hasn’t stopped Leatherman from announcing a new line of pocket tools designed specifically for both sets of action sports. This follows the company’s new line of snowboard tools that were rolled out earlier this year.

The Grind and Jam pocket tools are aimed at the skateboarders while the Thurster and Shooter are for those who like to catch some waves. The former are designed to be carried or clipped on a belt, and feature flat and Phillips head screwdrivers, file, bottle openers, multiple open ended wrenches, hex driver, truck key and carabiner – in other words all the things to do some work on the board while on the go.

The surf tools feature bottle openers, bit drivers, wax comb, spring hooks, a lanyard hole, easy outs and a rubber bit holder.

With these tools small repairs won’t let the good times end.

Get Your Leather(man) On

LeathermanLeatherman Tool Group recently acquired Seattle-based PocketToolX, and the results include a new line of multi-tool including the Cam Mulit-tool (above). These are designed to offer the functionality and dependability of Leatherman, but with fewer working parts. The Cam has been specifically designed for bow maintenance and arrives just in time for hunting season, but could be used by all archers – Green Arrow or otherwise.

One Handed Multi-Tool for Everything!

Because you can’t bring every tool you might need when you’re off biking, hiking or camping; having a multi-tool is never a bad idea. A better idea is to have something like the Leatherman OHT Multi-Tool, which is the first of its kind tool to be designed with one-handed operation.

It means one-hand to open blades or even pliers, as it features spring-loading for the crucial tools. The tool offers everything you might need for simple bike repair, plus a whole lot more as it includes a strap cutter, oxygen bottle wrench and even threading for common-size cleaning rods. SHOT Show: Get Your Sidekick and Wingman

As any good adventurer knows, it is good to have a sidekick for your journey. Likewise, a wingman comes in handy for so much more than just cruising the bars. A sidekick and a wingman should be reliable through thick and thin, and now you can actually buy one of each – of the multi-tool variety that is.

At last week’s SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Leatherman introduced the Sidekick and Wingman – two new tools that feature contemporary design for the first-time multi-tool buyers. Both tools will be made from 420 stainless steel and feature Leatherman’s popular outside-accessibility-to-tools design, including a saw, knife, scissors, screwdriver, pliers, bottle/can opener, serrated knife and much more.

While meant for the price-conscience buyer – the Sidekick will retail for $29.99 and the Wingman at $39.99 – when they arrive in September of this year, as with other Leatherman products these products still feature the company’s industry-leading, no-hassle, 25 year warranty.  Move over Swiss Army Knife, we’d rather have the American-made Sidekick or Wingman with us on our next journey.
