Made in America: Light & Motion It Up

We’ve seen a lot of bike lights, and other gimmicky methods to light up a bike but sometimes simple is what it is all about. The new Light & Motion Taz offers 1,200 Lumens that will truly light the way for those riding when the sun isn’t shinning. This American made light is designed as a “crossover” model, so it can be used for mountain bikes as well as street bikes.

It is simple in that it features no cables, and instead contains the batter inside – making it easy for commuters who lock the bike outside during the day. It features multiple settings and can run at the full 1,200lm for 90minutes, or provide a respectable 600lm for three hours. At 300lm it can run constant for six hours, pulse for nine or flash for 18 hours. And it can get fully charged in about four hours.

Light & Motion the Way

This week Light & Motion introduced the new update to its popular Solite, which is a light that could have so many uses. Introduced in 2011 the light can mount to handlebars, helmet, directly to the head or even just carried as a traditional flashlight.

The company will reportedly add some new features, notably extra run time, which a “read” mode that can stretch the battery to 100 hours. This mode can provide six lumens, which is enough to cook, see around the tent and obviously read. But Light & Motion knows that there are times light is needed when in motion, and has several options including the Solite 100 ($99) and Solite 250 ($149) to provide plenty of light for nighttime trail riding or running.

Both new models will reportedly charge in about five hours, and provide up to 2.5 hours of total brightness respectively or about 5 hours on medium and 20 hours on low. Both will also feature an LED battery life indicator so users can know how much juice is left. There is also a new lock-out mode as well to prevent accidental activation, which could drain the battery and leave users in the dark.

Light&Motion Provides Light for Bicycle Motion

Riding at night can be dangerous, especially if the streets aren’t well lit. So riding with a quality bike light can make the difference between getting there and getting there safely. Light & Motion has provided some very bright lights and now the company has introduced CREE XML bulbs for the latest Seca bike light, offering 1400 to 1700 lumens.

Additionally the company has reduced the size of the battery from six to three cells but still manages to provide long run time for the long ride long. The Seca 800 will certainly light the way with 1700 lumens, and it can run for 1.5 hours on high, three hours on medium or even six on low. This lightweight light is just 345grams too. So the only downside might be the $469 retail price. But for those who have to travel in the dark this one will certainly shine!
