Sidi Gets Casual

SidiWe know Sidi for their hardcore cycling attire and shoes, but apparently the company has a more relaxed side. This is apparent as the company has introduced a line of casual, urban shoes as part of its 2014 Side Sport Collection.

These new “sneakers” are called Insider and are both technical and fashionable at the same time. These feature a rubber sole that provides grip on a variety of surfaces along with ankle bones and toes that provide for a reinforced and protected fit. The Insider even offers a removable insole that is closed with laces and suede uppers. The shoes are available in gray, black and camouflage (above). Any way you choose these can’t be missed.

Elitist Running Shoes

Being something of elitists we do like the finer things in life, and that includes snob-worthy running shoes. Of course the New Balance Elite Edition 1500 running shoes, which feature a classic silhouette, are more retro than modern – something that true elitist might shy away from. These feature a Nubuck leather upper provides natural comfort, durability, and breathability; along with a solid rubber outsole for long-wearing durability

For those looking for a stylish street shoes that have that “sneaker” appeal we think these are truly a step ahead and dare we say that’s what makes them elite?

Latest Reebok and Chapter Collaboration Goes Leather

Reebok has been introducing a slew of new athletic shoes that promote some sort of new technology (although the company has had to settle a Federal Trade Commission lawsuit against the company’s booty-building EasyTone shoes). I have been wearing Reebok’s RealFlex running shoes for a few months and I now swear by them. They have replaced my hipster Converse Chuck Taylors as my every day shoes. They are comfortable, lightweight, and great looking, and I plan to buy a new pair shortly.

But prior to the RealFlex I have never looked to Reebok for athletic shoes, and I’ve viewed them more as a purveyor of lifestyle kicks (still love and rocking my old Reebok camo sneaks). In this collaboration with Japan’s Chapter World, Reebok’s Alien Stomper resembles the shape of basketball high-tops but there’s a feel of luxury here: two types of leather with gold accents and a camouflage insole. This isn’t Reebok’s first relationship with Chapter World, but it’s definitely more subdued. You could step out in these on the court, but they’re better suited for the club, methinks.

Baggy Shoes

We’ve seen a lot of products turned into other things, like the American Express Card dress worn at the Oscars a few years back – and we’ve heard about products using recycled plastics that can be turned into all sorts of things, including bike frames.

Now Civic Duty is doing its something unique. The company has introduced a new line of futuristic sneakers made from FedEx airmail envelopes, mounted to a recyclable rubber sole. The result is a shoe that is easy to stash in a carryon bag, yet is comfortable for hours of walking – best of all it is waterproof thanks to its Tyvek material so ideal for those trips during the rainy season.

The shoes, which are available for purchase now online, are the brain child of Steven Weinreb, Civic Duty founder and Chief Inspiration Officer. The shoe’s material promises to be both comfortable and breathable while being water resistant and highly durable. It should also be easily recyclable as well. Best of all it comes with a worn vintage look right out of the box.
