GPS smartwatch maker Suunto launched its online data-crunch website Movescount a while back, but now it is moving to a deal with Strava. This will allow users to track runs, rides, swims and hikes and track heart rate and cadence via the Suunto watches and will add the social fitness ability to provide motivation and camaraderie.

Smartwatch maker Suunto has introduced its new Ambt2 GPS watches. The Ambit2 S is designed for fitness buffs and offers functionality for cycling, running, swimming and training. The Ambit2 S can track pace, route navigation and track heart rate. The Ambit 2 is for those who take to wilds and it features fiberglass-reinforced case and offers info on altitude, vertical speed, barometric pressure and temperature – plus all the functions of the 2S.
Outdoor Retailer Show: Suunto Shines With New GPS Watch
Suunto has long been on the cutting edge with unique watches, and at this week’s Outdoor Retailer Show the company offered the Ambit. While not exactly cheap – at $600 it isn’t quite in the Rolex space for expensive timepieces – and frankly we’d like to see a Rolex that could do as much as this one. It features built-in GPS, and an accelerometer so you can know where you’re going and how high you’ve climbed.
It also can track heart-rate, speed, pace, elevation, distance, temperature, barometer and work as a compass and of course as a clock and alarm. This one shines!
Let the Suunto Shine With New Line of Sport Watches
Suunto has been a leader in sports watches, and this week the company announced a new range of fitness and sports watches to cater for a wide spectrum of outdoor activities, as well as gym training and exercise. These include the Suunto M1, M2 and t1c models. The M2 will display heart rate and calories burned in real time, allowing users to monitor their activity and set personalized exercise targets.
The watch maker will also offer a range of outdoor time pieces that include the Observer, the Vector and the new X10 GPS watch, which includes PC connectivity to enable users to record routes, mark waypoints and even track speed and distance. The Suunto X10 also is compatible with the Movscount.com website, so users can view tracks, plan visualize routes through the site.
They say time and tide stop for no man, but with these watches you’ll be better able to manage your goals, and soon might not want to stop.

Bluetooth SIG Announces World Cup 2010 Finalists
The Bluetooth Special Interest Group has announced the finalized for the Bluetooth Innovation World Cup (IWC). These include applications that make use of the new Bluetooth low energy wireless technology feature, with an emphasis on applications for sports & fitness, health care and home automation. The nine best ideas out of all 270 international submissions have been selected by an international panel of experts.
In the low energy technology for health care are an ear worn sensor for activity recognition developed by Louis Atallah from Great Britain. It measures balance, body posture or heart rate and seamlessly transmits that information to a medical help desk. Furthermore, Ahang Baghschomali from Germany submitted an ambient assisted sensing system which combines Classic Bluetooth technology with Bluetooth low energy technology and makes life easier for people with hearing problems as it gives instructions through the hearing aid. The Oxygen Flow Controller by Jimmy Vincent from India describes an innovative way to optimize the monitoring of blood oxygen with automatic adjustment of the oxygen supply for the patient.
