Earbuds were never a comfortable option for me, and they never stayed in. So I’ve always stuck with other options. At the SIA Snowsports Show in January we got to see an early model of the Sanpei Optics audio-adaptable glasses. It’s a combo pair of sunglasses and earbud headphones that work together to discretely fit into the ears. There are plenty of waterproof headphones and even waterproof MP3 players available for swimmers, but what about those who just have to use their iPod device? The answer could be the Waterfi, a waterproofed iPod Shuffle. The latest version of the Watefi features dual layer waterproofing technology, which is basically covering an iPod Shuffle with a rubber insulator. This reportedly provides some shockproof along with making the device waterproof. This can keep the player watertight up to 100 feet.
So basically this is just a stock iPod Shuffle that is covered in rubber, but for those who can’t live without their music even in the water, this could be the way to go.
Music fuels workouts. But sometimes the cord from headphones gets in the way. On a run your arms swing and often come in contact with the cord and rip it out of your ear. The reason for this is too much slack in the cord, though shorter cords aren’t necessarily the answer, then you risk not having enough cord to accommodate your needs. videos after the jump
It used to be that media players were so expensive that you’d never want to actually use them while working out. But like everything else the technology gets faster, smaller and best of all for the end user cheaper. How low does it go? We recently heard about the eSport Clip MP3/Video player from Ematic, which offers a 1.8-inch screen so it can be used to watch video clips or even read e-books and text files. And it is just $29.00.
So for under $30 you have a 5megapixel digital camera as well, and the device includes a 4GB flash drive for 2300 songs, or 20 hours of videos. It is easy to sync up with the USB 2.0 connection. It probably isn’t the most durable device but at this price are you really going to worry?

If you’ve tried to listen to music while running then you know how hard it is to keep the cord from your headband from bouncing around. You may have stuffed it down your shirt; run it down your backside; or like me, gone Bluetooth. For runners still wrestling with cables, Hex has a new cable keeper that promises to keep your cord in check on the run.
This week Fitness Technologies Inc. will show off the world’s smallest waterproof MP3 player. Given that there aren’t all that many MP3 players out there that are truly waterproof we didn’t know what small meant. An MP3 player smaller than a U-Boat could be considered small!
But UWaterG2, from FitnessTechUSA, is far from submarine size, let it can dive to 10 feet/3 meters. The micro-sized player is just 0.4-inches by 1.25-inches by 1.75-inches. It is available now in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB sizes, as well as five colors. It features “Twist & Lock” earphones to completely seal out water, and provide againt corrosion. Best of all at less than $60 this MP3 is priced for the able seaman yet is worthy of a U-Boat commander.
A doctor and a professor agree; the LifeSpan TR1200i folding treadmill is a great product. And by a doctor we mean retailer Treadmill Doctor, which named the product the “Best New Treadmill” in its 2011 fitness equipment review. The TR1200i, which is made by PCE Health and Fitness, was also named “Best Treadmill under $1000” by Fitness Professor Review.

Music can get you motivated, and it seems a few companies have music on the brain. Earlier this week we noted that Philips had introduced new technology into its line of Activa MP3 players that would respond to your level activity, and now there is an app that will send binaural beats to help enhance your focus, as well as your energy level. Digital Reality seems to have it on the brain too with Ubrain, the first digital tonic experience, which provides these binaural beats along with your favorite music tracks. The company has released an app for the iPhone and iPad, and will soon have versions for the Android, Samsung Bada, PC and iPod Touch.
The technology essentially allows users to select how they feel, and then determines the appropriate mood you’d like to have. This is accomplished through integrating preset music tone with your own music library. So whether you need to chill out or pick up the pace the Ubrain can do the thinking for you. At this month’s IFA conference in Berlin Dutch consumer electronics maker Philips once again reaffirmed that it was going to remain dedicated to fitness, as it showcased its Activa portable music player. The device was unveiled earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, but this month Philips offered a bit more information on this “much more than an MP3 player” device.
While the Philips Activia is going to go head to head with the iPod Shuffle, iPod Nano and iPod Touch, it has some features that the iPod simply can’t touch. The Activa will keep track of fitness progress and while there is some musical shuffling of sorts, it actually picks songs to provide vocal feedback and plays music to match the tempo of your workout.
