QBP Gets Colorful

Quality Bicycle Products will let you put some color in your ride. The company has introduced the iSSI line of mountain bike pedals that will be available in eight colors next year. The iSSi pedals will be available in Bright Silver, Intense Black, Brilliant White, Hi-Vis Yellow, Hi-Vis Orange, Tru Blu, Really Red, and iSSi Pink.

“We are creating iSSi specifically to support specialty bicycle retailers,” said Jason Gaikowski, QBP director of brand design and marketing. “Pedal iSSi is competitively priced at $75 MSRP and offers dealers a healthy 50 percent margin with strong MAP and Sales policies.”

Fat Weekend

We know that “Fat Tuesday” is the usually held for Mardi Gras in New Orleans, but Ogden Utah will have a fat Friday and Saturday. The Global Fat Bike Summit will be held January 24-25 to promote fat bikes’ low environmental impact, seek access to lands currently off limits to bikes, and explores the potential for local economic growth opportunity such access can bring. It will bring together dealers, consumers, land managers, fat bike manufacturers and media representatives.

The two-day event, co-sponsored by Quality Bicycle Products and Ogden City, combines educational seminars, a fat bike expo, a festival, and a race.

True Bicycle Grit

Reuben J. “Rooster” Cogburn is a fictional character who first appeared in the 1968 Charles Portis novel, True Grit. Cogburn Outdoors likely has nothing to do with that fictional character, but the company is a division of Quality Bicycle Products – the makers of Surly and Salsa fat-bikes.

The reason we thought of Rooster Cogburn is that this bike is something we’d almost expect to see him ride if he were around today and not merely a fictional character. This is a “hunter’s bike,” and offers a place to store a bow or rifle. The CB4 offers a rack, oversized tires and even a camouflage frame.

It is a bike that we think has some “true grit,” and we don’t mind saying so.

45North… a New Brand to Keep You Rolling in the Winter

With winter being only a few months away, some cyclists will choose to hang up their ride instead of braving the elements. Riding in snow, ice and darkness offers many challenges that some would rather skip in favor of the gym or the couch. A new brand is being created specifically with products geared towards cold weather riding. Based in one of the coldest areas in the United States, Quality Bicycle Products (QBP) of Bloomington, Minnesota has announced the launch of 45North.

This new brand will include all sorts of cold weather gear, but the initial offering will be winter specific tires. A new studded tire, available in both a 26-inch and a 700c; along with the Husker Dü, a proprietary fat tire for all-terrain bikes, will hit the market first. Prototypes will be available for viewing at Interbike which we hope to have some photos posted during our trip to the show.
