Go for a Yog With Anyone

Jogging has been around since the 1960s or so. Before that it was just called “roadwork.” But today it is just one of many types of running that people engage in around the world, and now thanks to apps and mobile handsets you can go for a Yog instead.

The concept of this new mobile social network app is that it allows users to run with or even against another person in real time, even if they are on the other side of the country or world. The Yog network and app connects you with other runners, so you can join them or race them. Joggers with the app can set up the date, time and distance and then invite others to take part. It can work via iPhone contacts or Facebook friends, but users can also join the running group. Video after the jump

Interbike 2012 Preview: Kinomap Trainer Apps Up

Kinomap Trainer has just announced a major update of its app, which key features including new equipment configuration page, search by location on a map, new Facebook connectivity and even Apple TV/HDMI display mode within the map.

We first heard about Kinomap back in January at the Consumer Electronics Show, and this cycling and running training app lets you hit the road from the gym or living room offering, while sharing of routes with users remains key. The company is running a contest throughout the rest of the London Olympic that unites the most passionate artists, athletes and fans from around the world to produce unique customized shoes that embody the passion of the games.

Nine artists are creating 34 pieces of art, live at the Adidas Olympic Lounge throughout the games, and each day two artists will customize the footwear with the spirit of “all in” moments. Nike Soccer Shoe Laser Strike

Nike just released its Nike T90 Laser IV soccer shoe. The “football” shoe is 20 percent lighter than the previous version. It features a streamlined silhouette that provides enhanced fit and lets wearers feel the ball. The forefoot area has a newly configured adaptive shield design that works with the foot’s natural motion to boost performance. Constructed from high performance synthetic leather, the upper provides a soft and close-to-the-foot fit. On the sole, a new stud design enhances speed and movement, without added weight or pressure.

To coincide with the launch, Nike Football created the T90 Strike Counter on Facebook. This app allows users to log their goals, and recreate the action in a 3D image. Report the spot on the pitch from where a goal was scored; where in the goal the ball went, and what part of the boot (shoe) was struck the ball. The data render a 3D image that can be shared with friends. Participants can also check out the 3D image and input from pro football players.

Kodak Ready to Play With Waterproof Camcorder

While summer fun maybe behind us for this year, Kodak is still ready to play with a new camera line fit for the surf and sun. The Kodak Playful Waterproof Camera is the latest addition its pocket camcorder lineup. This waterproof, dustproof and shock-resistant camcorder can go deep, up to 10 feet (3 meters) under the water for up to two hours, and is IPX8 certified, meaning it can withstand being continuously submerged to at least one meter. It can record video in 720p (1280×720) resolution, and it features a special white balance mode to ensure proper colors when doing its underwater thing. One obstacle that keeps many people from even trying to be more fit is that there is no real motivation. Many of us think we’re active, as we walk to the store or work, or are on our feet all day. CES 2011: Kodak to Roll Out Burton Snowboard Branded Camera

Next week’s Consumer Electronics Show won’t have any shortage of cameras, but one camera is already leading the pack in style. This week Kodak announced a new marketing relationship with Burton Snowboards, and this will include the release of a special KODAK PLAYSPORT Video Camera, Burton Edition. It features the orange pixilated design of Burton’s popular Custom 154 Snowboard. So for the fashion forward boarders, it will practically be a match made in heaven.

The camera will be bundled with a camera holster that can be worn on the arm or leg, thus making this an easy camera to access during a day on the snow. It comes with a remote control, rechargeable battery and a 4GB SDHC Memory Card.  This rugged HD video camera should prove tough enough, and it is waterproof for up to 10 feet, and can capture 1080p HD video as well as 5megapixel still images. It features electronic image stabilization and LCD Glare Shield, along with built-in software with USB output for easy editing – so you can put your “dailies” up to YouTube and Facebook. The only catch for those looking to grab one is that it won’t be available until later in January from Burton.com or Kodak.com (MSRP $199.95). Scary Spice Moves to Get Fit

Mel B, formerly Scary Spice of the Brit Pop group the Spice Girls, has been getting fit, and the latest title, Get Fit With Mel B has been released for the PlayStation Move for the PlayStation 3. This one offers you fitness expert Mel B, who offers positive feedback, encouragement and real-time guidance on your performance, while providing 25 different workout goals. The game features a custom workout program and a daily menu to help gamers stay on track (while getting off the couch).

EpicMix is a new online and mobile application that allows skiers and riders a seamless way to digitally capture and share their mountain experiences. From either a computer or via free mobile app for the iPhone, Android or other smartphones, the EpicMix takes advantage of newly installed state-of-the-art radio frequency (RF) scanners that are in place at 89 lifts across five mountain resorts.
