A smartphone on a bike ride can do many smartphones but only if it is accessible. Reaching to the back pocket while riding down the road isn’t exactly a good idea, but the Dew Motion iStick Playtime can provide access and control of many app features for an iPhone – with an Android version in the works.
The iStick, which is currently looking to crowd funding site Indiegogo to roll this one out, is designed as a wrist wearable controller that pairs with the handset via Bluetooth 4.0. This allows wearers to answer phone calls and control various apps. Video after the jump
Electronic Arts makes fitness games, and also makes games for mobile devices including iOS devices. Now it’s made a fitness app for the iOS: Yogify, an instructional app that gives you a few yoga routines. 
While there are many times where we’d like to leave the phone at home and just hit the trail, we know that the very reason to have it is to stay in touch. Of course bringing the phone on the go means having it covered – and by that we mean more than just any case. There have been no shortage of fitness apps to help users stay fit while on the go, but the Obstacles XRT app goes to the extreme – and XRT even stands for Extreme Reality Training. It provides instructional videos based on high intensity interval training (HIIT) workouts, which can be done from the home. While that might not sound particularly extreme the works promise otherwise. The only thing not extreme is that this only is available for iOS.
Archery is hot right now, thanks in no small part to movies such as Brave and The Hunger Games. And while getting started isn’t really that hard or expensive Canadian chiropractor Ron Green has devised a fitness game that can be used with an app to simulate shooting arrows. The result is BowBlade, which is far closer to actual archery than anything we’ve seen to date in a true video game. It works as a fitness device, but adds a gameplay element when combined with an iPhone and accompanying app.
Activity monitors are great, but you have to remember to put them on or the investment means nothing. You know what device you probably never forget to have on you? Your phone. Moves app from ProtoGeo is an app that uses your iPhone to monitor your activity. 
The iPhone has created a revolution in tech fitness, and it actually isn’t a bad camera for capturing those moments on a bike. Fitness tracker Fitbit will introduce a new model this spring and it is designed for those who aren’t exactly rigid about their routines. As with other trackers the Fitbit Flex, which will arrive this spring, is designed for wearing on the wrist, and it is designed to track steps, distance traveled, calories burned, active minutes and quality of sleep. All of this can be synced to a user’s iPhone or Android drive via Bluetooth 4.0. It can even nudge wearer’s out of deep sleep with a gentle vibration.
If you have an iPhone you don’t need a GoPro or another rugged camera, you just need the right case to turn the handset into an action camera. At last week’s CES we saw such a case: The G-Form G90, which even offers a special lens that turns the handset – or even iPod Touch – into a wearable camera. This lens even allows users to take images at a 90-degree angle, making it easier to mount the handset on a helmet or handlebars! 
We’ve seen a number of waterproof cases for the iPhone but most are in essentially just extra tough baggies, or are so bulky that it makes the handset difficult to operate.
