Marvelous Apparel

BurtonBurton Snowboards is looking marvelous with its new youth outerwear jacket and pant collaboration with Marvel Entertainment. These feature a an exclusive one-of-a-kind print of Marvel’s Avengers Assemble featuring bold, iconic illustrations of Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Black Widow and Hawkeye.

While lacking the steel exoskeleton of say Iron Man, this is somewhat superhero worthy in other ways. The line features DRYRIDE weatherproofing and strategically placed Thermacore insulation for super-powered warmth and waterproofing. Aspiring Avengers will also love the jacket’s hidden facemask, removable waist gaiter and extra waterproof welded seams.

Burton Goes Bionic

Burton Snowboards is going Bionic but it won’t cost $6 million. The company has announced that it has partnered with Pharrell Williams and BIONIC yarn to produce an urban line of eco-friendly snowboarding apparel for the 2014 line. These were shown at the recent SIA snowshow in Denver and include the 3L Jacket (above). This jacket fuses three layers of waterproof yet breathable fabric that makes for a jacket that is perfect for the slopes as well as the streets.

Burton Does the Dew – In a Good Way

Our friend Tim drinks a lot of Mountain Dew but as he’s an active guy we don’t really give him a hard time for it. Of course between his thirst for the “Dew” and various sports drinks we do wonder what his recycling bin looks like – we’re sure there are a lot of plastic bottles. That’s not so good. But fortunately Mountain Dew and Burton Snowboards announced this month that they’re teaming up to roll out the 2013 Green Mountain Project. This outerwear collection is produced from sustainable fabric made from recycled plastic bottles. The GMP outerwear collection includes three stylish and eco-friendly jackets and two pants for men; and two jackets and one pant for women. All of it comes from fabric created from pellets of recycled bottles. So that bottle of Mountain Dew in Tim’s hand today could be on the slopes soon!
