With a name like ReCycle you can pretty much guess what the company makes: bikes made from recycled materials, including aluminum. The concept behind the company is that recycled aluminum takes 95 percent less energy and creates 95 less CO2 emissions than creating it from virgin material. As such 75 of aluminum processed since the 1880s is still in use.
Based in Los Angeles and headed up by Bryce Edmonds, who moved out from Pennsylvania in the 1990s, the company has three models including the mBula, a cruiser made for beach or city riding; the Mudmaste, an “all-terrain bike;” and the hipster friendly Moshi Moshi, a fixed gear/single-speed. The company is looking to get in gear via a Kickstarter project, with bikes ready to roll soon.

Sometimes when you get on the bike you’re not in spandex. Sometimes you’re even in pants. But that presents a problem as the cuff can get caught up in the chain and not only ruin your commute, but also your pants. For years there’s been a few solutions, generally in the form of a bright, reflective yellow strap. New technology and design innovation is making its way down to ankle straps. 
We’ve all heard the old saying “reduce, reuse, recycle.” Not everything can be as easy and throwing a can in the blue bin or reusing a paper bag. Frankly, not everything can even be reused or recycled practical manner. Take an old bicycle inner tube for instance: while it can be used as a tie down strap or to hang tools in the garage, it isn’t really practical, so most of us just chuck them in the trash. Green Guru of Boulder, Colorado is changing the way we think of trash and they are reusing old bicycle inner tubes and neoprene wet suits in their product line. 
What really happens to a plastic bottle that is tossed into the recycling bin? Does it actually get recycled or carted off to the dump? Shoe company New Balance along with Dasani water, owned by Coca-Cola, have now teamed up to show what is possible through reducing, reusing and recycling some of the materials that we use in our everyday lives. This partnership was launched to highlight the sustainability of reusing the plastic from one product and turning it in another product. In this case it was turning the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic that is commonly used in drink bottles into a fabric that can be used in a pair of shoes under the name newSKY.
